Truth be told, come winter, Finland transforms into a giant deep freezer. Only colder. The conditions changing rapidly and frequently, create a lot of beautiful landscapes, often surreal! The most photogenic icy seascapes can be seen when the sea starts freezing and rocks get covered with ice which at sunset and sunrise displays amazing colors. The pictures in this gallery are from Helsinki area, namely Lauttasaari, Suomenlinna and Ruutinkoski. I also recommend you visit my friend’s website for fantastic photos - Mikael Rantalainen Photography. Not only has Mikael given me many priceless tips, his talent has been a real inspiration.

If you like the pictures in this gallery, you might also like the pictures of Lofoten, and the pictures of Espoo, all on snapi.org :)  Also make sure to pay a visit to the gallery of ice formations.
