Venice is without doubt the epitome of romantic destinations. And you realize it is obviously so as soon as you lay foot in this truly unique town - in both good and bad.

The good - You’ve heard of it, seen it on TV, read about it, been dreaming of it for years, and eventually planned every tiny detail of your trip to make it a perfect gift for your loved one. And once on the Ponte della Libertà, you start watching your own play unfold in front of you - at last you’re here! You’re in la Serenissima! About to discover that everything you’ve imagined is nothing compared to what Venezia is. It is a gem, for the two of you.

The bad - Well, Venice being that good, it’s obviously going to attract a crowd of people exactly like you, who’ve had the same dream and have planned it in the same way. We all know this. So expect Venice to be that too, expect tourist shops, overpriced tourist restaurants, and quite a few tourist traps. This could spoil your stay to some extent, but  it’s up to you not to let it happen. Go to side-streets little restaurants, pick a not-too-crowded season, and importantly book a hotel outside Venice (e.g. I had a wonderful inexpensive stay in the Villa Vicini in Preganziol and Villa Foscarini in Mogliano Veneto).

You will find in this gallery pictures of Venice, the Piazza San Marco, the campanile, the Ponte Rialto, the Ponte dei soispiri, the Grand Canal, and much more!
