Yodel-Ay-Ee-Oooo! Yodel-Ay-Ee-Oooo! The Wiener Schnitzel, the sachertorte and hot chocolate are what Austria, the country not down under, is famous for. And yes, of course, the Habsburg, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, Strauss (daddy and son), Freud, Doppler, Schrödinger, Porsche have as well all contributed to putting Austria on the map as a prominent country in Europe and the rest of the World. Not to mention Austria's most famous export, aka the Terminator, now ruling California and praising environmental friendliness driving a hummer.
Austria lies in the Alps in Central Europe and is thus a largely mountainous country. This makes Austria a major ski destination in winter but also an inevitable spot for mountain lovers in all seasons. It is characterized by picturesque villages in stunning landscapes, beautiful baroque architecture with its typical onion-shaped church towers, and importantly very friendly and welcoming locals who will definitely make your stay very enjoyable. Austria is a place where you will really feel on holiday, away from your fellow countrymen shipped like cattle by their money-driven travel agents to some touristic trap.
